Premiere: Black Doldrums Release Video For New Single People’s Temple Rising London gothic shoegaze duo The Black Doldrums have just unveiled the video to new single, colossal space rock blowout People’s Temple.

Comprising of singer-guitarist Kevin Gibbard and drummer / keys player Sophia Lacroix, the new single marks the culmination of a steady rise throughout 2018 for Black Doldrums.

Co-produced by engineer James Aparicio (Spiritualized, Depeche Mode and Nick Cave), the thunderous cut is the second track to be pulled from the band’s new EP Sad Paradise, released to widespread acclaim through leading shoegaze/psych label Club AC30 last week.

A seven-minute epic founded on a riff that evokes the BRMC under layers of fuzz and reverb, the track diverts into an expansive Verve-esque space rock section before returning to its “What you believe in / Is up to you” hookline before accelerating towards the coda.

Filmed in their pair’s rehearsal space, the performance-based clip shows the pair surrounded by a wall of amps sufficient for several groups and signs off enigmatically with the text “chemically sinister, public pressure” displayed on the screen.

The duo are set to launch the EP with a set at the Club AC30 night alongside Notts ambient rock outfit Eyre Llew and labelmates Fever Dream on Thursday 5th December at The Victoria, London.

Sad Paradise is out now through Club AC30 available here
