The first fruits of his upcoming Love EP, Liverpool based singer James Canty has issued a striking promo clip for lead track ‘Putney Bridge’.

Bearing the influence of Jacques Brel in its dark narrative and swelling string arrangement, the track creates the effect of the chanson singer being transported to England through Canty’s Syd Barrett-esque vocals.

Produced by Joe Wills (who co-wrote several tracks on Dan Croll’s debut LP Sweet Disarray) the five track Love EP is set to be issued through Wills’ Obscenic label, formerly home to ascendant Liverpool trio All We Are.

Consisting of an intense single shot in close-up, the clip is directed by Jack Whitely, who has helmed promos for Stealing Sheep and The Staves.

Love is released on May 4th through Obscenic
