Super Furry Animals and The Horrors confirmed as headliners for the UKs biggest psychedelic gathering

Preview: Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia 2016 Now into its fifth year, the Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia returns for its biggest outing yet this September with leading psych doyens Super Furry Animals and The Horrors announced as headliners.

Held on Friday 25th to Saturday 26th September, the Festival has expanded year on year from its initial one-day event in 2012 to become a mainstay of the Liverpool music scene, attracting patrons from across Europe and Scandinavia

Held at cavernous former industrial spaces Camp & Furnace, its adjoining Blade Factory venue and the nearby District gig space, the shindig truly reflects its International billing, its line up a genre strafing collection of Kosmiche rhythms, avant garde electronica, 1960s inspired cosmic pop, and esoteric art rock, the festival showcases the full gamut of the psychedelic form.

A band who scarcely need any introduction, resurgent Welsh psych rock legends Super Furry Animals return to Liverpool to head the bill, a group whose live reputation precedes them and have inspired many of the acts on this year's line up.

Fellow headliners Southend alt rock quintet The Horrors have journeyed further into psych territory with succeeding release, with 2014 platter Luminous a beguiling collision of motoric rhythms and dream pop songwriting

Highlighting the international aspect of the Festival’s moniker, NAWKSH from Taipei and Prairie WWWW from Karachi, plus Kikagaku Moyo and Minami Deutsch from Tokyo showcase the event’s far-reaching sonic ambitions.

Ground-breaking electronic/psych project Silver Apples return to the city while the ultra-heavy hard hitters Acid Mother’s Temple will provide sandblasting guitar textures in abundance.

One of the UK finest psych bands, revered Carlisle quartet The Lucid Dream play the festival for the fourth year while Moonlandingz, a collaborative link up between Eccentronic Research Council and Fat White Family make their Liverpool debut.

Legendary Liverpool band The Stairs fronted by Edgar Summertyme Jones are present alongside Swedish prog/psych outfit Dungen and Stereolab alumni Tim Gane's Cavern of Anti-Matter project.

A banquet of delights for psychonauts of any stripe, come join the PZYK Colony
