Preview: Gathering Festival 2013 Last year saw a new festival come to Oxford. It featured an October date and an indoor roster of venues around the OX4 postcode spread across one day. It featured a stellar line-up including the likes of Liars, Bastille, Lewis Watson, Jake Bugg, Lucy Rose, and a whole lot more, including some great local acts. So that was Gathering Festival 2012.

Two weeks ago the first announcement of bands for Gathering Festival 2013, taking place on Saturday 19th of October, was announced, and it’s already looking like a good ‘un. The two headline acts of AlunaGeorge and Local Natives are fairly monumental bookings and already causing some headaches for those planning to attend on whom to see, if, as expected, they are on at the same time. AlunaGeorge will be playing in support of their soon to be released debut album, Body Music, while Local Natives will be continuing to tour their excellent 2nd LP, Hummingbird.

But as last year proved, there’s a fantastic line-up lower down the bill. Cut from the same cloth as the likes of Tame Impala, the psych-rock group Temples (pictured) will be making an appearance, along with London Grammar, who will bring their brand of dark, artful-pop. Five-piece Charlie Boyer and the Voyeurs will showcase their skuzzy garage rock channelling the 70s. Also playing will be the soon-to-be-huge duo, Ruen Brothers, with their bluesy, soulful rock.

With plenty more acts still to be added to the bill, Gathering Festival 2013 promises to live up to last year’s excellent start. Tickets are available for £20, with more information on the Gathering Website
