The Getintothis Award Returns for its Fifth Year
Liverpool event dubbed the Scouse Mercury Prize returns for its fifth year

Following in the footsteps of 2015 winners All We Are and 2014 prize recipient Forest Swords, the winner selected from a shortlist of 12 will be awarded a cash prize of £1000.
An event whose shortlists have provided an impressive showcase of Merseyside acts including Stealing Sheep, By the Sea, Outfit and Dan Croll, the prize is open to music of all genres, the only stipulations are that each entrant must submit four tracks to take part.
Established by Liverpool music journalist Peter Guy, editor of online music magazine Getintothis the Award, founded in 2012 and has received upwards of 300 entrants each year.
The judging panel which in previous years has included writers from The Guardian, Music Week, BBC 6 Music DJ Tom Ravenscroft plus industry tastemakers Alan McGee and Jeff Barrett alongside figures from storied record labels Bella Union and 4AD.
Richard O’Flynn, from last year’s winners All We Are stated, ‘Getting nominated for, and then winning the GIT Award in 2015 was a great moment for us. As always, Liverpool is full of amazing bands and artists and to win the Award was both a surprise and a massive honour. The prize money was invested back into touring and was well appreciated. The support we get from the scene in Liverpool is amazing and we'll always give it right back. We’re looking forward to next year!’
Kicking off the 2016 awards a free entry launch event takes place on January 29th at newly minted city venue The Buyer’s Club and sees rising Liverpool acts Pink Kink, Nelson and The Night Café take to the stage.
The winner of the 2016 Award will be announced at Constellations, in the city’s Baltic Triangle district on May 14th.
