Shoegazers Flyying Colours Announce Details Of New Album
Melbourne shoegaze specialists return with new LP You Never Know in March
Dreampop quartet Flyying Colours have announced details of their third LP, with You Never Know set for release on March 17th. The new disc is the successor the Melbourne outfit's acclaimed 2016 eponymous debut and 2021s warmly received Fantasy Country.
Lead single from the album Goodbye To Music, tackles co-lead singer / guitarist Brodie J Brummer’s fear of hearing loss. "For a period of time I became obsessed with how I had neglected my ears over many years of touring, rehearsing, mixing and recording, and I constantly contemplated what it would be like to say goodbye to music" the singer states. "Writing this song was a way for me to accept that what is done, is done, and to manage my own guilt spiral. The guitar parts were circling around my head incessantly as the ringing in my ears for weeks before the words and music came together. I feel this track is a great summarisation of my life in Flyying Colours to this point and whatever might come next".
Guided by the group’s hallmark twin lead vocals from Brummer and guitarist Gemma O'Connor, alongside bassist Melanie Barbaro and drummer Andy Lloyd Russell, the new cut brings synth textures to the group’s swirling guitar patinas. Goodbye To Music comes backed with a video that intersperses live footage with clips of the band on the road and working on the new LP at Red Doors Sounds with producer Woody Annison.
You Never Know is released through Club AC30 (UK/EU) on March 17th
