Shoegaze Label Sonic Cathedral Announce Exclusive 20th Anniversary Shows

Celebrating two decades of exemplary dream pop, leading shoegaze label Sonic Cathedral have announced a series of outstanding shows this Autumn (see below for full details).

Toasting their twentieth birthday, the label’s roster are represented in a quartet of London gigs that brings together genre icons with leading lights of the new shoegaze wave.

New York noise rockers A Place To Bury Strangers kick off proceedings at Number 90 on 24th September, with recently founded outfit Three Quarter Skies, fronted by Slowdive’s Simon Scott and Cornish improv-noise trio Mildred Maude as support.

Shoegaze icons Slowdive headline an up close and personal show at EartH Theatre, Hackney on 4th October with a strong undercard featuring rising stars deary and Whitelands.

Genre pioneers Ride will revisit their legendary Reading ’92 festival set when they headline Hackney Church on October 12th. Main support on the night comes from bdrmm, who will play their modern day classic eponymous debut LP in full. Also on the bill are electronic polymath Pye Corner Audio and Moon Diagrams, the solo project of Deerhunter‘s Moses Archuleta.

The run wraps up where it all started at The Social on 13th October, long standing home of the Sonic Cathedral Sunday Service event, featuring as yet unannounced very special guests.

All four shows will feature suitably psychedelic visuals courtesy of Innerstrings with additional details about DJs, futher additions to the bill and other events taking place to be announced soon.

Sonic Cathedral boss Nathaniel Cramp said of the shows, “Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected to still be doing this in 2024, or that Ride and Slowdive would be back together and playing as part of the celebrations. Having bdrmm, Whitelands, deary and so many other members of the Sonic Cathedral family all present and playing will definitely make this an unforgettable birthday”.
