Desperate Journalist Indie rock / post punk specialists Desperate Journalist have released a 1990s inspired video to their new single Personality Girlfriend.

One of the strongest tracks the quartet have issued to date, the visuals draw inspiration from the classic promo to Brimful of Asha by Cornershop. Alongisde images of the band projected onto record sleeves, the clip sees the group, lead singer Jo Bevan, guitarist Rob Hardy, bassist Simon Drowner and drummer Caz Helbert surrounded by stacks of 7” vinyl and a portable turntable each.

Including plenty of details for trainspotters with its identify-the-single by its artwork game, a score of classic singles The Cure feature prominently. The artwork to Kate Bush albums The Sensual World and the inner sleeve of The Red Shoes can also be glimpsed alongside Desperate Journalist’s 2019 LP In Search of the Miraculous.

The new single flags up the release of the band’s fourth album Maximum Sorrow! due for release on July 2nd through Fierce Panda. In addition to the single release the quartet recently announced several more live dates, including a support slot with Mancunian post punk outfit Liines (see below for details).
