The Age Of L.U.N.A – Live Under No Authority (liveundernoauthority.com)
Promising UK hip-hop outfit drop enthralling debut mixtape
Released Aug 31st, 2015 / By Sam Bennett

With a crisp, modern and unique sound, The Age Of L.U.N.A definitely stand out from the pack. There's no bravado or off putting over-confidence; throughout Live Under No Authority the music feels genuine and humble. The off kilter beat and melodic vocal performances on Thelema make for a captivating start to the project. The airy synth lines and glitchy percussion on Better Than are also fantastic production choices, something which is consistently apparent as Live Under No Authority progresses. The heartfelt lyricism and passionate delivery present on Memory Lane, as well as the punchy drums and soulful guitar licks, make the track a highlight; The Age Of L.U.N.A create a really positive headspace when listening to this project, a refreshing objective for a group to hold.
The classy feel of Frozen, which matches modern boom bap drums with smooth flows and memorable melodies, as well as cool sample work, makes the track a dope one; the versatility and consistency on display are wildly impressive. The futuristically gritty Boom is my favourite track from the project, with convincing voices and energetic flows from Butch and Kyoto. The leftfield and glitchy production is perfect for the thoughtful writing. The twinkling key melodies, extended chords and soulful brass make the jazzy Billy a superb instrumental track, and the project closes out with the chilled Flower Power and a Gil “Tuff Scout†Cang remix of Memory Lane.
Live Under No Authority is a unique experience; the overwhelming positivity and intelligence displayed through the lyrics across the project is enthralling, and the fantastic production makes this cohesive and consistently exciting. The Age Of L.U.N.A are a breath of fresh air.
