Something For The Weekend: Norwich

Anyone fancy a trip to Norwich this weekend?

Something For The Weekend: Norwich If you are from the Norfolk area, or familiar with our rural ways, you'll no doubt be aware that most things are a little backward here. Not only is it one of the only places in Great Britain where you can buy mackerel in a carrier bag from a man in a pub toilet, but there's also a depressingly high chance an "activity" such as THIS might just be the highlight of your holiday...

Noteworthy nights out in the area are few and far between.

Thank heavens then that 808 are determined to bring something a little more interesting to Norfolk than a rollercoaster themed around a mollusc famed for its lack of speed.

This Friday at Kartel in Norwich sees the ninth instalment in their increasingly successful series headlined by none other than Swamp 81 label owner Loefah (pictured); an original pillar of the dubstep community and arguably one of the most influential tastemakers currently operating in bass music. Alongside him will be none other than Chunky, who along with being one of the most respected MC's in the game, recently released his excellent Chunky EP via Loefah's Swamp 81.

Benny2Tone, in his 808 debut, will also be on hand bringing some of the proper old school dubstep style, before it was all snapback kids in moshpits and Xbox adverts. There will be support as usual from 808 residents City Jaxx and Max Bailey. Expect it to sell out faster than a pub toilet based mackerel trader!

It's rare that a quality night manages to survive in Norfolk's rural confines, but with this being 808's ninth night, and bearing in mind the Boddika headlined eighth instalment hit capacity around midnight it's advisable you get involved and show your support pronto!
