London based festival returns for its third outing with a UK exclusive for headliners Foals

One of the newer upstarts on the festival scene, Citadel Festival, returns to London’s Victoria Park for its third year. This year’s event will take place on Sunday July 16th, and looks to continue their efforts of creating The Ultimate Summer Sunday, combining cultural creativity alongside an expertly created artist line-up.
Last year saw Sigur Rós headline on a blazingly hot summers day, with Lianne La Havas, Maribou State and Matt Corby amongst the other big names to play. appearing alongside arts events such as The Sunday Papers Live, and an interview with Eddie The Eagle.
This year’s line-up looks to provide something for everyone. There’s a huge UK Festival exclusive with Oxford’s Foals headlining. Hugely revered folk singer Laura Marling, electronica producer Bonobo and US indie pop duo Sylvan Esso will be playing in support of recently released albums. And of course Bearded’s favourite, a whole host of bands and artists on indie labels to discover.
Australia’s funk-pop group Parcels should go down well if the weather is as glorious as last year, while Brighton’s Yonaka will bring their excellent bluesy garage rock to Victoria Park. Also present are Chicagoan garage rock crew Twin Peaks and goth pop singer Nadine Shah.
Sadly, Eddie The Eagle will not be returning, but other non-music events include a Roller Hoedown, talks on a range of topics such as the science of Doctor Who, and stand-up comedian Shappi Khorsandi will join the returning Sunday Papers Live.
