Liverpool Psych Fest Announces Daytime Programme and Launch Event

With just over a month to go until lift-off on Friday 22nd September, Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia have announced the daytime programme for the event and a pair of pre-festival warm up gigs.

Aussie psych rock troupe POND bring their acclaimed recent LP The Weather to the Invisible Wind Factory under the Psych Fest banner at on Saturday August 26th.

The festival’s launch party the day before the main event sees the only performance by US indie rockers Ducktails in North England held at Psych Fest's Baltic Triangle neighbouring venue Constellations on Thursday 21st September.

The day splits and final line up for the Festival was confirmed last month with new additions including ultra-loud NYC noise rockers A Place to Bury Strangers being added to the bill.

Among the events during Psych Fest's Daytime Programme will be Musings In Drone, the Festival’s ‘tripped-out’ take on a chat show, which will feature interviews with artists, label bosses and industry figures from the world of psychedelic music including Emmanuel ‘Jagari’ Chanda from headliners W.I.T.C.H. plus members of Castle Face Records.

Liverpool cinema and art hub FACT have a presence at this year’s event through their short film programme Too Much Is Never Enough which features a series of artist-created shorts, inspired by themes of excess and overwhelming sensory experiences.

The festival's cavernous main stage will play host to an installation titled Furnace 2.0, which utilizes an 'extreme video hexahedron environment', to create ‘maximised bombardment’ which will feature in several main stage performances.

Continuing the Festival’s experiments in virtual reality, the PZYK PRYZM returns while 360 degree AV installation the /// PZYK COLONY /// makes a second outing, with the space set to play host to The Comet Is Coming, Gnod and The Bug vs Earth, a collaboration between UK producer Kevin Martin and noise rock doyen Dylan Carlson respectively.
