The estimable Liverpool dream pop quartet are put under the spotlight

Introducing: Shards With a score of festival dates and high profile support slots recently logged Liverpool dream pop specialists Shards are building a snowballing profile for their shimmering melodicism.

Comprising of Alex McKenzie (vocals and guitar), Paddy Gullidge (guitar), Dan Jones (bass), Cain Garcia (drums), the quartet have crafted a sound reminiscent of shoegaze titans Ride and Slowdive with elements of Radiohead and dream pop doyens Wild Nothing.

The band’s soaring debut single Reflections scored airtime on BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing, repeating the feat with excellent follow up cut My Birthday.



With a clutch of impressive support shows alongside Black Honey, Tim Burgess and whenyoung under their belts, the quartet recently logged warmly received appearances at Liverpool International Music Festival and Sound City.

With a 10-year collaboration agreement with fast rising Liverpool label Jacaranda Records just inked, the outfit are labelmates with similarly ascendant alt. rock mavens SPILT.

Shards’ next show is supporting The Peach Fuzz at new Liverpool venue Jimmy’s this Friday. The second gig to be held at the Bold St. gig parlour, the venue is ran by the team who established the highly successful Manchester gig space / bar of the same name.
