Bear’s Den issue live video for new single Greenwoods Bethlehem

Since forming just five years ago, Bear’s Den have risen from strength to strength to become one of the UK’s hottest prospects in English folk music to date.

The London-based duo, Andrew Davie and Kevin Jones, once supported the likes of Ben Howard, Nathaniel Rateliff and The Staves, travelling across the USA in campervans. So it seems all it takes is a top ten charting second album Red Earth & Pouring Rain to go on to embark on a rapidly selling out and extensive European headline tour. However, due credit must be given to Bear’s Den who have worked tirelessly to shake off their relentless comparisons to Mumford & Sons and produce such accessibly heart wrenching and heartwarming music.

Greenwoods Bethlehem is a brilliant example of this and, in part, captures the very essence of Bear’s Den. It speaks volumes about the intent of the band: to produce honest music about the most vulnerable and affectionate emotions of everyone on this world. The song retains perfectly crafted heartfelt lyrics that we have come to expect from Bear’s Den and as such has become a firm favourite amongst fans whilst sonically portraying how the band has grown.

In anticipation of the single release of Greenwoods Bethlehem on the 7th April and the current European tour (see UK dates below) the pair have beautifully portrayed a live version of the song in a recent video release (below). In it, Bear’s Den showcase everything that’s special from their live sets: a unique harmony with the audience and an on-stage modesty that makes you all the more susceptible to tears when they descend intimately into the crowd to play unplugged.

By the end of April, Bear’s Den will have played close to 80 shows around the world since the release of Red Earth & Pouring Rain with a raft of European festivals booked over the Summer.
