Simple Things Announces EXT Programme This year’s line up for Bristol’s Simple Things Festival has got Bearded all-a-flutter. John Carpenter (pictured) Warpaint, Suuns, plus the recently announced Death Grips, Dream Wife, Three Trapped Tigers. Its going to be a noisy, experimental weekend in one of the UK’s most forward-thinking cities.

Not content with their awesome core line up, the clever clogs at Simple Things HQ decide that booking these awesome bands to entertain our earholes just isn’t enough, and have announced a Simple Things EXT. - an extended programme of unique performances, talks and art installations supported by Arts Council England in the week preceding the main festival. EXT takes place in the week leading up to the main festival and includes lots of free workshops, performances and installations that are designed to inspire and muddle the mind in equal doses. There will be performances from such renegades as Dooplereffekt, Tarik Barri as well as members of The British Paraorchestra - the first ever British orchestra comprised wholly of disabled musicians - will collaborate with At Bristol to remix Terry Riley's minimalist classic 'In C' as a sound and visual experiment taking over the planetarium dome.

In the direct lead-up to the festival, Simple Things EXT. will also be hosting a series of panel discussions spanning the evening of Friday 21st and the early afternoon of Saturday 22nd at nearby creative hub Watershed. These panels will explore key issues and experiences within the contemporary musical landscape, and are titled as follows:

- How can musical activity support itself financially in a digital era?

- DIY or Die: Is Bristol's changing landscape providing opportunities or challenges for its creative scene?

- Are UK Festivals becoming dangerously homogenised?

- Radical Dancefloors: Reclaiming club cultures' progressive roots.

These panel talks will include artists, journalists and industry experts. The names of those participating are to be announced soon.

So, we think that’s enough to make your mouth water, so cut to the chase and book your tickets from the link below. Roll on October!

Simple Things Festival takes place across various venues in Bristol on Saturday 22nd October with a special performance by John Carpenter on Sunday 23rd at Colston Hall.
